What to Bring

We provide most of what our volunteers need to have a simple, healthy experience: fresh air, sunshine, hard work, good food, wide open spaces, and a place to lay your sleepy head. Here are some other things you may need or want when you come visit.

Things to be sure and bring:
Your favorite sunscreen
Toiletries (there is Dr Bronner's peppermint soap here), including moisturizing lotion
Your creativity
A sun hat
Light rain gear (like a poncho or rain shell)
Sturdy leather boots if you have them
Your favorite mosquito repellent
A flashlight and/or headlight
Leather work gloves if you have them
Sunglasses
Shirts - sleeveless/T and long sleeve
Sweater or sweatshirt
Camera (if it's digital we can make a CD for you when your chip fills up)
Your favorite water bottle
A positive attitude
Shorts
Long pants (or convertible pants)
Comfy socks
Swimsuit if you don't like to swim naked all the time
"Hygiene products" if you are a girl
Money, though there is no place to spend it close by except the post office
Underwear if you wear it
Sleeping bag and sleeping pad (pillow too if you need one)
A phone card if you plan to call long distance

Things you might want depending on who you are (please be aware, we can't be responsible for your gear):
Art supplies
Musical Instruments
Booze for after hours
Notebook/journal/letter writing supplies
Vitamins or other dietary supplements you take
Medicine, including an epi-pen or three if you are allergic to stinging insects
Special foods that you love
Recipe for your favorite brownies/lasagne/margaritas
A mug with a place name on it to leave at the farm
iPod
Books you have been putting off reading
Ideas for books you have been putting off writing
Your cell phone, though it may not work here
Your laptop if you will die without it, though there are computers here to use for email and such
Fishing gear if you fish - there is also gear here you can use
